SYDNEY, Aug 2 AAP - Police have arrested two men over the murder of a Filipino woman
in Sydney's south almost 20 years ago.

The naked body of Pia Navida, 37, was found in scrubland near Bundeena, in the Royal
National Park, in February 1992.

Two weeks ago, detectives said new DNA technology had given them fresh leads, and on
Tuesday police arrested one man in NSW and another in Victoria.

A 40-year-old man was arrested at a house in Bathurst, in central western NSW, about
6.30am (AEST).

He is helping police with their inquiries.

A 40-year-old man was arrested by Victorian Homicide Squad detectives at a house in
Langwarrin, south-east of Melbourne, just after 7.15am (AEST).

FED:Carbon tax will put jobs at risk: survey

CANBERRA, April 6 AAP - More than two-thirds of Australians are concerned that the
introduction of a carbon tax will put jobs at risk, while an even greater number believe
companies will move overseas as a result of it.

A survey conducted for the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) found
that 59 per cent of people are opposed to the carbon tax, while only 27 per cent saying
they approve.

The survey - conducted by Touchpoint Research Australia - of 550 people across both
urban and regional Australia and income brackets also found that 70 per cent believe jobs
will be put at risk if the tax goes ahead.

Sixty-five per cent say it's unacceptable to sacrifice jobs for the environment, while
82 per cent believe some companies will move offshore once the tax is introduced.

"The carbon tax debate should become not just one about electricity prices, it should
also become one about competitiveness and jobs," ACCI chief executive Peter Anderson told
reporters in Canberra on Wednesday.

"The public is saying to the government that the pursuit of a carbon tax is a risky
business and it is also a risk to business."

The survey further found that 54 per cent of respondents didn't believe a carbon tax
would make any difference to the global environment, while only half of those polled believed
consumers would actually reduce their energy consumption or that industry would move to
become more energy efficient.

Boat Wrap (SAO PAULO/CANBERRA)

Foreign Minister KEVIN RUDD says the horrific refugee boat accident off Christmas Island
.. in which at least 27 people died .. is an "unspeakable tragedy".

Australian officials say the refugees died yesterday morning after their wooden boat
shattered in violent seas off the island.

The boat was reportedly carrying up to 70 asylum seekers .. customs says at least 42
people survived.

Mr RUDD .. who's in Brazil .. would not be drawn on what policy changes Australia might
make in light of the accident.

He's told AFP it's not a day to debate policy .. it's important simply to reflect on
the human dimensions of the tragedy and suffering.

Meantime .. the Refugee Council of Australia says the deaths highlight the desperate
circumstances facing people fleeing persecution.

Prime Minister JULIA GILLARD is returning from her holidays to deal with the incident.

WikiLeaks Boat (SYDNEY)

Secret US embassy cables have criticised the handling of asylum seekers by former prime
minister KEVIN RUDD.

Fairfax reports the cables .. obtained by WikiLeaks .. reveal US diplomats told Washington
that Labor insiders regarded the issue as "politically dangerous" .. and the party was
fearful of being viewed as 'soft' on border security.

The cable also reveals the embassy said that in parliamentary debate on asylum seekers
Mr RUDD had "returned to tedious spin and bureaucratic jargon .. making him look evasive
and out of his depth".

They also show that a close adviser to Mr RUDD failed to persuade him to use the government's
powers "to calmly and rationally put the issue in perspective" .. by acknowledging that
only a small number of asylum seekers were arriving by boat .. compared with tens of thousands
overstaying their visas.

Assange Court Appeal (LONDON)

Court officials say the appeal against bail for WikiLeaks chief JULIAN ASSANGE will
be heard in London's High Court later today.

under stringent conditions.

The Australian founder of the whistleblowing website is being detained at Wandsworth
Prison in south London while he waits to hear if he can be released.

Weather Qld (BRISBANE)

Wild weather that's rocked southeast Queensland has subsided .. but the reprieve may
be short-lived .. with more severe thunderstorms predicted.

Senior forecaster BRETT HARRISON says hail and damaging winds are expected.

Suburbs north of Brisbane were hit by similarly rough conditions late yesterday ..

with areas between Brisbane and the Gold Coast pelted with hailstones the size of tennis
balls.

Earlier .. a motorcyclist died in a severe hailstorm at Thornlands.

Nuttall (BRISBANE)

Former Queensland government minister GORDON NUTTALL will be sentenced today for corruption
and perjury.

A Brisbane District Court jury found the 57-year-old guilty in October of five perjury
charges and five counts of official corruption.

The court heard the former minister corruptly received 150-thousand dollars from businessman
BRENDAN MCKENNARIEY .. and in return .. NUTTALL used his ministerial influence to help
Mr MCKENNARIEY win government contracts.

Last month .. prosecutors said NUTTALL should receive a maximum penalty of 14 years' jail.

NUTTALL is already serving a seven-year sentence for 36 counts of corruption.

Morcombe (BRISBANE)

The inquest into the disappearance of Queensland youngster DANIEL MORCOMBE continues
today after a warning .. that a man allegedly ready to make a courtroom confession to
abducting and murdering the boy .. should not be trusted.

Detective Senior Constable VIRGINIA GRAY told the Brisbane Coroners Court yesterday
a person of interest .. known as P33 .. has given police a disturbingly detailed account
of how he and his older male lover had snatched the 13-year-old from a Sunshine Coast
bus stop in December 2003.

But the officer has told the court the man concocted the story to pay his lover back
for reporting him to police over child pornography and child abuse .. and should not be
believed.

Bligh (BRISBANE)

Queensland Premier ANNA BLIGH has reflected on a painful year .. but ruled out stepping
down or an early state election .. saying she is not discouraged by plummeting public
support.

She says she knew her government's asset sales plans would not be popular .. but she
says she doesn't think that leadership is about being driven by polls or focus groups.

Ms BLIGH's told the Seven Network she will absolutely lead Labor to the next state
election due in March 2012.

Fire (SYDNEY)

The New South Wales Rural Fire Service Association will tell the government today what
it thinks needs to be done to prevent major bush fires in the future.

warning the state could face a devastating fire season next year unless hazard reduction
is continued.

RBA cuts cash interest rate by 25 bps to 3.00 pct

SYDNEY, April 7 AAP - The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has cut the cash interest
rate by 25 basis points following its board meeting on Tuesday.

The cash rate has been lowered to 3.00 per cent, from 3.25 per cent, to a 49-year low.

The cash rate is now at its lowest level since March 1960 when the monthly average
rate was 2.99 per cent.

"At its meeting today, the board decided to lower the cash rate by 25 basis points
to 3.00 per cent, effective 8 April 2009," RBA governor Glenn Stevens said in a statement
published after the decision was announced at 1430 AEST.

Economists had been divided over whether the central bank would cut rates after its
board meeting in Brisbane, or leave the cash rate unchanged this month.

The RBA did not cut in March, saying it wanted to wait and see the impact of earlier
rate cuts and federal government's fiscal stimulus initiatives on the economy.

Fed: Tommy Tycho's charmed life continues with doctorate

By Erin McWhirter, National Entertainment Writer

SYDNEY, April 3 AAP - With a career spanning six decades, Tommy Tycho's exceptional
musicianship has earned him a swag of high profile awards and the honour of working with
some of the world's finest performers.

While the virtuoso pianist and composer admits he accomplished too many career highlights
to pinpoint just one, he lists holding the Australian record for conducting nine Royal
Command Performances as one of the greatest honours.

Working his music wizardry to arrange compositions for US entertainer Sammy Davis Junior
and Welsh singer Shirley Bassey are other triumphs.

The Hungarian-born maestro will add another string to his bow when he receives an Honorary
Doctorate of Music from the University of Sydney tomorrow.

The doctorate recognises Tycho's contribution to the Australian music industry.

"When you are working you don't angle for acknowledgements like this and it came out
of the blue ... I was gobsmacked," the 78-year-old said from his Sydney home today.

"In reflection it signifies what I have doing for more than 63 years. It's (music)
is like oxygen and water for me. I can't imagine my existence without any kind of musical
activity."

During his professional life, Tycho has scored more than 1,500 pieces of music for
films and television including the medal ceremonies for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games
and film compositions for Australian comedy flicks Reckless Kelly and Young Einstein.

Tycho is the first to acknowledge his life in showbiz is a privileged one, but it's
a far cry from his childhood years, where he spent time in a forced labour camp during
World War II, before fleeing Hungary bound for Australia.

However, through the hard times there has always been one constant in his life - music.

"I started to play the piano when I was three years old and it has accompanied me throughout
my life," Tycho said.

"Throughout my career I have been able to achieve things and been given things like
the MB from the Queen and the Order of Australia from the Governor-General, but I never
expected these things.

"I honestly can't believe that it's all happened to me. I must have lived a charmed
life up until now."

Tycho will be honoured with the doctorate in The Great Hall of Sydney University at
11.30 (AEST) tomorrow.

Mahābhārata

Mahābhārata The great Sanskrit Hindu (see Hinduism entries) epic, the Mahābhārata is perhaps the world's longest literary work. It is eight times as long as the Iliad and Odyssey combined. Not considered “revealed” text or śruti (see Śruti), the epic is a traditional, or smṛti (see Smṛti), but it is the source for many of the most popular and complex myths and legends of Hinduism and India. Perhaps most important, it is considered a reliable source for questions having to do with proper actions and social arrangements (see Dharma) and the relations between the human and divine worlds. Mahābhārata means “Great (mahā) Story of the Bharatas,” the Bharatas being the legendary first Indians and, by extension, Hindus. “The Epic,” as it is sometimes called, continues to be performed and read all over India. There are even comic book versions widely sold.

The legendary author of the Mahābhārata is Vyāsa (see Vyāsa), a particularly powerful sage (see Ṛṣi) otherwise known as Kṛṣṇa (see Kṛṣṇa) Dvaipayāna—the “island-born Kṛṣṇa,” and thus perhaps an avatar of Viṣṇu (see Viṣṇu, Avatars of Viṣṇu). The epic was dictated by Vyāsa to the elephant-headed god Gaṇeśa (see Gaṇeśa), who used one of his tusks as a pen. The work is sometimes called the “Veda of Kṛṣṇa,” suggesting a religious connection between Vyāsa and the Kṛṣṇa-Viṣṇu figure who is so central to the epic, particularly to the highly philosophical section we know as the Bhagavadgītā (see Bhagavadgītā). Vyāsa is also said to have brought the Vedas themselves to humanity. There is a tradition that holds Vyāsa as the begetter of the Bharatas, the ancestors of both the Pāṇḍavas (see Pāṇḍavas) and Kauravas (see Kauravas) the warring parties in the Mahābhārata. In fact, the authorship of the epic was collective and gradual. Much of what was transcribed by brahmans (see Brahmans) in the fifth century BCE was based on earlier material, reaching back to ancient tribal warfare, and additions were made to the text as late as 500 CE The central issue of the epic is the war between the Pāṇḍavas and the Kauravas, which, according to tradition, took place on the sacrificial field of Kurukṣetra in ancient times.

The stories of the Mahābhārata are clearly representative of cosmic religious issues. It seems fair to suggest that the Mahabarata as smṛti is an example of particular sectarian devotion or bhakti (see Bhakti) in connection with Kṛṣṇa-Viṣṇu, specifically, as well as a reexamination of older Vedic (see Vedic entries) ideas of dharma and Brahmanic (see Brahmanism) sacrifice. The work contains eighteen books (parvans) and is supplemented by the Harivaṃśa, a geneology of Hari (Viṣṇu).

The epic begins with the establishment of the need for sacrifice in order that true prosperity (see Śrī) might be restored. The goddess Earth is oppressed by demons and evil. Viṣṇu and several other gods descend to assist the Goddess. Viṣṇu is Kṛṣṇa, friend and cousin to the Pāṇḍava brothers, who are fathered by gods for whom they become earthly vehicles or avatars. The Pāṇḍava king, Yudhiṣṭhira (see Yudhiṣṭhira), is fathered by Dharma, who embodies that proper order and duty that needs to be reestablished in the world. His brothers Arjuna (see Arjuna) and Bhīma, whose mother Kuntī (see Kuntī) is also the mother of Yudhiṣṭhira, are fathered by the gods Indra (see Indra) and Vāyu (see Vāyu), representing warriors. The less famous brothers, the twins Nakula and Sahadeva, whose mother is Mādrī, are fathered by the twin physician gods called the Aśvins (see Aśvins), who in this case represent social welfare. Together, the Pāṇḍavas, supported by Kṛṣṇa, stand for proper action and social arrangement or dharma. The Pāṇḍavas share one wife, Draupadī (see Draupadī), an incarnation of Śrī/Lakṣmī (see Lakṣmī), the wife of Viṣṇu. Opposed to the Pāṇḍavas are their hundred Kaurava cousins, led by the arrogant Duryodhana, who embodies cosmic discord, in alliance with Karṇa (see Karṇa), the son of the sun god Sūrya by Kuntī. Together the Kauravas represent adharma, or the opposite of dharma. The stage is thus set for a war that will be the cleansing sacrifice between ages (yugas) and a lightening of Earth's burden.

When, after political struggles and a decision to divide the kingdom, Yudhiṣṭhira lays claim to universal kingship, Duryodhana challenges him to a game of dice. In this famous game, Yudhiṣṭhira loses everything, including the joint Pāṇḍava wife Draupadī. He thus gambles away prosperity, as Draupadī is an incarnation of Śrī/Lakṣmī. The Kauravas attempt to disrobe Draupadī in order to insult and humiliate her and her husbands but are prevented from doing so by the powers of Kṛṣṇa. After losing another gambling match, however, the Pāṇḍavas are exiled for thirteen years. The religious significance of the exile is that it stands for the period of preparation (dīkś) for a sacrifice.

The ensuing war between the Pāṇḍavas and Kauravas is prepared by Kṛṣṇa who, as the avatar of Viṣṇu (see Avatars of Viṣṇu), knows it must take place in order that Śrī (Prosperity) can be restored to Earth. Early in the great battle, Arjuna begins to doubt the value of the inevitable carnage and has to be convinced by the divine revelations of Kṛṣṇa—his charioteer—of the necessity of the sacrifice in the interest of dharma. These revelations form the Bhagavadgītā. The war is the war to end wars, resulting in the victory of the Pāṇḍavas but the death of almost everyone. It is the universal sacrifice that will bring to an end the age (yuga) that precedes our own kaliyuga. Viṣṇu has thus achieved the original goal of coming to the rescue of Earth.

X-Rite Announces Enhancements to its InkFormulation Software.

Now Supports Next Generation of CxF File Format for Color Communication; Features PANTONE Goe System, PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM and HKS libraries

DUSSELDORF, Germany -- X-Rite, Incorporated (NASDAQ: XRIT), the world leader in color management, measurement and communication technologies, today announced a series of enhancements to its InkFormulation software (IFS). Developed for ink manufacturers and printers who formulate their own ink, X-Rite's IFS provides fast, accurate and consistent formulation for offset, flexographic and gravure inks. The new version of IFS supports the next generation of CxF (Color Exchange Format), the file format for color communication. It also features the PANTONE([R]) Goe[TM] System, the PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM([R]) and HKS digital libraries.

X-Rite's InkFormulation software provides a powerful, high-end ink formulation engine that makes it possible for users to measure a color and quickly obtain the ink recipe without having to go through a cumbersome and expensive trial-and-error process. This drastically reduces waste and shortens the downtime required for on-press corrections. With X-Rite's InkFormulation software, printers that until now did not have in-house ink formulation capabilities will be able to save both time and money by streamlining the ink mixing and matching process.

"When printers need special colors, any delay in getting the right ink on press can cost them precious time, as well as cause customer satisfaction issues and missed deadlines. Our InkFormulation software lets ink suppliers and printers efficiently share color data and speed the formulation process using an intuitive user interface, networked databases and Internet communication," explains Tobias Rausch, X-Rite's product manager for prepress and pressroom solutions.

Thanks to a sophisticated math engine that provides better prediction of ink interactivity with substrates, IFS is able to rapidly calculate the optimal and most cost-effective recipe based on the printing process, ink, illumination, pigment pricing, and number of components and materials to be used.

The newest version of IFS now also supports the next generation of CxF, a file format designed to accurately and unambiguously communicate all commercially significant aspects of color across devices, applications, industries and geographies. At each step of the process, colors are defined and stored as CxF files so that they can be seamlessly and faithfully exchanged between instruments and applications throughout the printing workflow, allowing for effortless digital color communication from design to production to print.

IFS's advanced matching algorithms improve results, especially in highly opaque applications or when formulating for use on different substrates such as metallic foils and transparent films. Final color correction is quick and easy, and can even be done on-press. IFS provides recommendations on how to reduce the amount of leftover inks and allows for any leftovers to be reworked into new formulations, reducing inventory and waste, lowering disposal costs and providing a rapid return on users' InkFormulation investment.

With the PANTONE Goe System, PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM and HKS libraries now available as an integral part of InkFormulation software, users can access, specify or match any of the libraries' colors at the click of a button without having to match them manually.

With batch processing, customizable printing functionalities and write-protectable recipe folders, IFS allows for higher automation while lowering the cost for recipe database maintenance. This ultimately reduces press downtime and speeds up the make-ready process while helping to further reduce ink inventory and waste.

IFS 5.1 also supports databases based on mySQL 5. A new IFS enterprise resource planning (ERP) connection module will be available later this year to enable ERP systems to access some of the IFS database attributes.

IFS version 5.1 will be available as a free download to existing InkFormulation 5.0.x Software customers. New licenses will be available from X-Rite and its extensive global network of authorized resellers. For further information please visit www.xrite.com.

A feast after the feast.(Recipe)

Byline: Leah Eskin

When the leftovers are gone, give thanks steadfast supper

The turkey has been conquered. Likewise sweet potato, cranberry, carrot, squash and cornbread. Pie, even that mysterious pink one, vanquished. Whipped cream, ice cream, sour cream, and coffee cream downed. Thanksgiving has been dispatched with dispatch.

Not that it was easy. There were days of scrubbing and scraping and slicing and sauteing. The rambunctious to distract and the table to set and the gourd collection to arrange to convey _ in its knobby, wart-pocked way _ bounty.

There was the gravy/no gravy confab and the extraneous mashed potato conundrum and cornbread versus white-bread stuffing conclave. (No one championed whole wheat.) There was the junior pumpkin-bread sous-chef to supervise. The misguided pine-cone-place-card inspiration. Broom and dustpan duties to delegate.

Followed by the feast. It was a group effort-everyone in the family pulling his weight, and then some-in the effort to undo what we had just done. The big plates. The medium plates. The small plates. Then another round.

Dishes. More dishes. And, in the festive spirit of the day-after-the-big-day, apple crisp for breakfast and stuffing sandwiches at lunch and turkey potpie for dinner.

After which we swore we would never eat again.

And didn't.

For a while.

The warm mug of tea and bowl of broth, however virtuous, eventually cool to tedious. After a while, the kitchen gleams clean again. The fridge, relieved of leftovers, smiles cheerful again. Eating sounds, well, novel.

It's time to stage the comeback. Not tea, not broth. An actual meal. One prepared with fresh ingredients-ingredients reminiscent of neither turkey nor squash. Nothing orange. Nothing mild. Nothing New World or Pilgrim-approved. Something hearty and spicy and flavorful.

We study the cookbook, the one heavy with bold flavors and pungent aromas. We admire the views of salty salt cod, garlic-soaked peppers, spice-wrinkled potatoes, red-wine granita. Here are the hearty appetites of Spain. The very place Columbus fled. Sounds promising.

We shop. We cook. We stew up Basque fishermen's stew-hearty and spicy and flavorful. Even before the guy contingent flicks on the game, the post-season looks like a winner.

___

BASQUE FISHERMEN'S STEW

Serves four to six

2 dried pimientos choriceros or 1 ancho chiles, stemmed, seeded and torn into small pieces

4 to 5 plump sun-dried tomatoes

1 cup water

1-{ pounds Yukon gold potatoes, peeled

\ cup extra-virgin olive oil

1 small white onion, finely chopped

1 red bell pepper, chopped

1 green bell pepper, chopped

3 cloves garlic, finely chopped

2 ripe tomatoes, peeled, seeded and chopped

1/3 cup dry white wine

3 cups fish stock or 2 cups bottled clam juice diluted with 1 cup water

Coarse salt and pepper

1-{ pounds boneless bonito or bluefin tuna, cut into 1-inch cubes

3 tablespoons finely chopped parsley

Grilled or toasted country bread

1. Soak: Submerge the pimientos choriceros or ancho chiles and sun-dried tomatoes in 1 cup hot water until soft, 30 minutes. Using a blender, puree (along with soaking liquid). Set aside the tomato-chili paste.

2. Break: In the Basque tradition, break up the potatoes by gouging each with a paring knife, twisting out small irregular chunks. Set aside.

3. Wilt: In a heavy medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium-high. Add the onion and red and green peppers and cook, stirring, until the vegetables begin to soften, 5 minutes. Cover, reduce heat to low and cook, stirring once or twice, until the peppers are very soft, 10 more minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook 1 minute. Add the tomatoes and potatoes and cook, stirring, 5 minutes.

4. Simmer: Add the reserved tomato-chile paste, the wine, and 2-{ cups fish stock. Increase the heat to high, and bring to a boil, skimming. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook, partially covered, until the potatoes are very tender and some are just beginning to fall apart, 30 minutes. If the sauce seems too thick, add some or all of the remaining { cup fish stock and return the sauce to a simmer. Season with salt and pepper.

5. Fortify: Rub the tuna cubes gently with salt and add them to the sauce. Cook, shaking the pot gently, until the fish is just cooked through, 5 minutes. Season the stew with salt and pepper, sprinkle with parsley and serve in soup bowls with bread.

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., Sept. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- EpiCept Corporation announced today that it has received a milestone payment from Adolor Corporation in connection with Adolor's initiation of a U.S. Phase II trial of a sterile lidocaine patch trademarked by EpiCept as LidoPAIN(R) SP, a product candidate for the treatment of post-surgical incisional pain. Adolor has announced top-line results from the Phase II trial are targeted for the first half of 2006.

In July 2003, EpiCept licensed North American rights for its LidoPAIN SP (sterile lidocaine patch) to Adolor. Under the agreement, Adolor is responsible for conducting clinical trials, managing the approval process and, upon receipt of marketing approval, commercializing the product in North America.

"If LidoPAIN SP is approved, we believe that it will be the first sterile prescription analgesic patch on the market," said Jack Talley, CEO of EpiCept. "LidoPAIN SP may also reduce the need for systemically-delivered narcotic analgesics and NSAIDs. The initiation of the Phase II study by Adolor marks an important milestone in the advancement of our pipeline in the U.S."

EpiCept is currently conducting its own pivotal scale Phase III trial of LidoPAIN SP in Europe. The clinical trial is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in which at least 450 patients who underwent hernia repair will receive a LidoPAIN SP patch or placebo patch for 48 hours. The primary endpoint is self-assessed pain intensity at various times from four to 24 hours.

Sabre Airline Solutions Provides Increased Competitive Analysis Through Low-Cost Solution; Sabre LiteVision Selective MIDT Tool Now Offers Data to All Major GDS Bookings And Increases Number of Markets Available for Analysis.

SOUTHLAKE, Texas, Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Sabre Airline Solutions has launched the newest release of the Sabre LiteVision personalized marketing information data tapes (MIDT) system. As a part of the release, the LiteVision system's GDS capabilities have been expanded to include all the major GDS MIDT bookings. This analysis will build upon the information already available through bookings from the Sabre Passenger Reservation System and ABACUS MIDT bookings. In addition, the number of markets available for analysis has been increased from 25 top markets to 50 selective or top markets, enabling small to medium-size airlines accessibility to additional MIDT data to support vital market decisions.

Airlines utilizing MIDT data for market analysis have increased booking share on specific markets as much as 7% or more. This shift in bookings share translates directly into revenue for the airline.

"In today's uncertain economic times, airlines are seeking cost-effective ways to improve the bottom line," said Steve Clampett, president of Airline Products and Services for Sabre Airline Solutions. "Our goal is to provide airlines reliable market data that is both easily accessed and easily understood. We understand that the more an airline knows about its customers and competitors, the more it stands to gain."

The LiteVision system delivers both feature/function and financial benefits to help improve an airline's bottom line. With the LiteVision system, an airline can make optimal market decisions using a wide array of GDS data. Whether a carrier requires access to a single GDS or multiple GDSs for market data, the LiteVision system offers features designed to respond to its growing needs. Analysts can study markets based on system-wide or regional bookings. Targeted reports delivered through an easy-to-use interface enable analysts to quickly make informed decisions. Additionally, for small to medium-size carriers seeking to extract valuable MIDT data, the LiteVision system provides an affordable alternative, implemented as an application service provider (ASP) offering available through the Sabre eMergo Web-enabled and dedicated network solutions.

By using eMergo delivery, airlines can access the comprehensive portfolio of Sabre Airline Solutions optimization technology through the Internet or a dedicated circuit, which saves them costs that typically would be required with hardware and software acquisition, system implementation, support personnel, data storage and ongoing maintenance. These savings are producing significant financial results for customers -- typically a 30% or better reduction in total cost of ownership versus traditional, proprietary-based solutions.

In addition to lowering the total cost of ownership, the eMergo suite of simplified and standard applications produces faster implementations, improves time to market, and provides greater integration with Sabre Airline Solution's other software products. The LiteVision system can be implemented in one month, enabling an airline to immediately gain revenue-improving results. Today eMergo delivers applications to more than 38 different airline carriers through a common portal interface.

Other carriers that have implemented the LiteVision system include, ACES, Aeropostal, Avianca and Lloyd Aereo Boliviano.
