Tweet, tweet: We're social networking, too

Everyone's talking about social networking these days - even the Vatican.

And The Sun's editors and reporters are communicating with readers and residents this way, too.

By now you might have found The Sun on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and Flickr. On these sites you can learn more about the city and tell us what you know by submitting stories and photos, and also keep tabs on the city through the eyes of others who live and work here. We want you to interact with us and help us tell Naperville's story.

Twitter, a social networking site, is one of the next big trends in Internet communication. Follow your friends; follow your favorite newspaper - The Sun, of course; or just look at the comments posted by others.

Our reporters and editors already have been "tweeting" on Twitter. Here's a few "tweets," which can be a noun or verb, from The Sun staff last week:

Accident reportedly backing up traffic at or near 75th and Washington streets in Naperville. - 9:44 a.m. March 5

Tell The Naperville Sun the story of your particularly awful commute by contacting Stephanie Behne at stephanie.behne@gmail.com. - 1:45 p.m. March 5

We want photos of Naperville residents who have a "Face Like the Map of Ireland." fvpreaders@gmail.com or flickr http://tinyurl.com/yrvkxg - 1:46 p.m. March 6

 Lemak tragedy, 10 years later: http://tinyurl.com/bv9uc5 - 12:45 p.m. March 5

Mark Metzger steps down from D204 board president seat after sending e-mail with expletive to the wrong people. Visit napersun.com for more. - 4:14 p.m. March 3

Huey Lewis and the News and Heart have signed on to play Naperville's Ribfest Fourth of July weekend. - 10:58 a.m. March 3

Case of missing boy recovered at O'Hare now being investigated as a runaway situation. More details at www.napersun.com. - 11:39 a.m. March 2

You'll be able to keep track of the big news of the day and offer responses to stories, too, not only on Twitter but Facebook, MySpace and our Potluck blog at napersun.com.

On our Facebook fan page, you'll find feeds to our top stories of the day and write on our wall. We're also planning profiles of our staff members.

Find us on MySpace at myspace.com/napervillesun, and on Flickr as Naperville Sun, where you can submit your photos.

We're counting on you to keep us on top of everything Naperville, so keep in touch. Contact me at hpfundstein@scn1.com or call 630-416-5237.
