Fed: One Nation seeks deferral of appeal judgment

An appeal court ruling on whether PAULINE HANSON's One Nation Party is legally registered
has been delayed by allegations of blackmail, perjury and fraud.

One Nation has now alleged that a key witness in last year's Supreme Court de-registration
trial perjured himself after being blackmailed by the party's arch-enemy TERRY SHARPLES.

Mr SHARPLES, a disgruntled former Gold Coast One Nation candidate, took the case to
the Supreme Court and won last August.

Justice ROSLYN ATKINSON had found One Nation's registration invalid because it was
induced by fraud and misrepresentation.

Now One Nation is alleging the judgment had been obtained by fraud.

In a letter written to the court of appeal, One Nation's solicitor RUSSELL TEMPLETON
has asked that the judgment to be handed down today be deferred.

Justice ATKINSON's ruling resulted in One Nation party being de-registered in Queensland,
while the Queensland Electoral Commission sought $500,000 which had been paid to the party
upon its 1998 state election result.

One Nation is now alleging that ANDREW CARNE, of Melbourne, who'd been in charge of
the party's data base had been blackmailed into perjuring himself at trial.

Court of Appeal Justice BILL PINCUS has set a hearing date for February 17 when arguments
will be heard about the allegations and whether the current judgment should ever be handed
down.
