Vic: Libs to battle Nats for seats

Victoria's former coalition partners will be fighting each other for seats at the next
state election.

State Opposition and Liberal leader DENIS NAPTHINE has announced there'll be a Liberal
candidate in every Victorian seat at the next state election.

A spokesman for Doctor NAPTHINE says there were no discussions with the National Party
before this morning's announcement.

In a media release that doesn't mention his former coalition partnership, Dr NAPTHINE
says the Liberals will be fielding strong candidates in each seat.

After the coalition's massive defeat at the last state election, the Liberals and the
Nationals dissolved their coalition partnership.

Until then, there'd been agreement the parties wouldn't contest seats already held
by their coalition partners.
