VIC: Nurses to vote on bans today

MELBOURNE, Feb 1 AAP - Nurses at Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital will today vote on
an agreement which could avert strike action at the hospital this week.

Australian Nursing Federation (ANF) state secretary Belinda Morieson last night told AAP an
agreement with hospital management had been drafted and would be put to about 70 members at
9am today.

Ms Morieson said an earlier vote to place work bans on operating theatres at the hospital
would be enforced from this morning, but could be lifted as early as this afternoon if ANF
members accept the agreement.

The bans would affect all but two cardiac and one emergency theatre, she said.

Ms Morieson would not predict the outcome of today's union meeting or reveal details of the
agreement proposal with hospital management.

The dispute centres on staffing levels at the hospital.
